We’re proud to support a new initiative to draw attention to important social and environmental issues in Singapore. This is the inaugural year of the project with many more to come. STOREYS encourages local creators to share issues that are personally important by storytelling through film.
Our world is smaller than it has ever been and people are more connected than at any point in human history. In some of the most developed nations with access to cutting edge technology, we find that there are still sections of our society that lag behind and need a boost, people that can’t keep up with the fast pace and rapid advancement of technology today, and the creeping global effects of climate change affect the world. All of these subjects need to be brought to the forefront of people’s minds, because they’re important to the continual improvement of the lives of Singaporeans and other global communities facing similar challenges..
STOREYS is a new CreativesAtWork initiative supported by the IMDA. STOREYS Discovers, Supports, Funds, and Promotes creative works from independent content creators with the aim of driving positive social change to benefit Singaporean communities and present Singapore-based models for international communities.
2019 is the inaugural launch and first opportunity to create an impact within the communities of Singapore. We are ambitious about effecting change and will be selecting 15 teams of content creators to produce 15 digital short films to bring attention to social causes individual creators are passionate about. What are the overarching goals of STOREYS? Better Communities, Better Environment, Better Living.
It is essential these videos distinguish themselves to drive social change in Singapore and the need to stand out amongst the many videos we see during the day and touch individual viewers. How will we be doing this?
Anchors
Each video will be paired with an anchor. Anchors provide the story source. More importantly the Anchors offer platforms and networks to give the videos a far reach.
Content Creators
All content creators will receive the benefit of a mentor to help them craft an engaging and touching story that melds with current viewing habits. Creators will also share the video amongst their own personal networks.
Multi-Versions
Each video will have versions optimized for different platforms. YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and more to assist in driving the content towards the greatest audience reach possible.
Film Festivals
All 15 videos will be sent to international film festivals to driver cause beyond Singapore. Our Singapore stories will reach the whole world.
With the task of telling humanitarian stories and addressing issues in society and the environment for the first time, funding is is solely dependent on the kind support of companies, organizations, friends, and family can provide.
The STOREYS Project is actively seeking support towards making this initiative a success and raise awareness about the issues dear to our content creators.
Below you can find two ways to support our efforts:
- Join us as an Anchor utilize your platform and network to boost the reach of a short film.
- Provide a financial contribution that will help our content creators produce high quality short film content. We are seeking a total of S$8,000/video, but you may contribute as little or as much as you choose. Every dollar counts!
With our inaugural year we are hoping to start strong and demonstrate the power of visual storytelling and help the communities of Singapore and maybe even others far from Singapore’s shores.
