How To: Share Your Google Ads Account With an Agency

While working with a client today and walking him through the process of how to share his Google Ads account with us so we could perform a quick audit. This is not only for an audit but certainly when hiring an agency to manage your Google Ads account. The steps are surprisingly easy but it’s very possible to get lost amongst the dashboard buttons and menus.

Step 1: Client Sends Google Ads Account Customer ID to Agency

  1. Begin by logging into your Google Ads account.
  2. Find your Customer ID. This can be found by clicking on the arrow in the top left corner of the browser to expand the menu along the left side. Your Customer ID will be located at the top of the menu.
  3. Send the Customer ID to your agency.
  4. Remain logged in and wait to grant the agency after it requests access.

Step 2: Marketing Agency Requests Access

  1. A person on the agency side will login to the agency’s top level Google Ads Manager account.
  2. Go to Accounts and click +Account and then select “Link Existing Accounts.
  3. The agency will enter the Customer ID provided by the client and then click “Continue”.
  4. A name (for internal use only) needs to be create for the account. Once a name has been entered, click”Request Approval”.

Step 3: Client Approves Agency Access

  1. Click the gear icon in the top right of the page. Then select “Account Settings”.
  2. Click “Account Access” On the left menu.
  3. Click “Accept Request”. If you’d like to provide full access, grant Admin permissions to the agency.

Done! See how easy that is! You’ve successfully granted the agency access and now you’re free to grow your business while the agency monitors your Google Ads performance.

  • Sweet blog! I found it while searching on Yahoo News. Do you have any suggestions on how to get listed in Yahoo News? I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there! Cheers

    • First of all, make sure your site is properly indexed by Bing because Yahoo is powered by Bing. Then you’ll also need to register with Bing PubHub. Other content for the Yahoo newsfeed comes from press releases that are sent out by services like PR Newswir and GlobeNewswire.

  • Thanks for the easy-to-understand steps!
On my blog http://almostism.com we write about AI and data privacy. And I have a question: How different are the policies of Bing and Google when it comes to ranking content organically on each of them?

    • A few of the key differences between Bing and Google can be found in a few areas. Meta Keywords, backlinks, social signals, and multimedia content. For meta keywords, for Google they’re basically dead, but for Bing they’re still a part of Bing SEO. For backlinks Google goes by authority, but Bing gives more weight to a domain’s age. As for social media, Google claims that it’s not a significant factor but there’s some debate about tat. Bing, on the other hand does give weight to social signals. Multimedia content is an area where Bing has taken the lead and acted more aggressively, especially with video content, and Google has remained focused on traditional search.
