Some people watch the Super Bowl for the actual sport, but many people watch the commercials. Advertisers pay tens of millions of dollars for just 60 seconds of your attention. Some brands make that money work. Some brands squander the money and opportunity. Here are some Super Bowl 2020 commercials that stood out.
Jeep
The top of the list has to go Jeep and Bill Murray. We could watch this commercial a few times over (and have).
Doritos
Lil Nas X, Sam Elliott, Sam Elliott’s mustache, and very brief appearance of Billy Ray Cyrus.
Planters
Planters was pushing the death of Mr. Peanut in the run up to the Super Bowl. it was a fakeout though. He’s back, and a BabyNut. ( Or is that a Baby Nut?)
Mountain Dew
Sure, we’ll take Bryan Cranston and Tracee Ellis Ross in “The Shining”.
Hyundai
A clevah advertisement to show Hyundai’s smaht pahking technology.
Hulu
Tom Brady fans and just football fans in general were perplexed by a Tom Brady tweet prior to the Super Bowl that showed him walking out of a stadium. It was an attention getting prelude to a Hulu’s Super Bowl commercial.

Yes, Google had a Super Bowl commercial. For many this commercial was tearjerker. For others it was a little creepy. For some this was a creepy tearjerker of a commercial.
Pringles
For all the “Rick & Morty” fans out there.
Coca-Cola Energy
Is Jonah Hill going to leave Martin Scorsese hangin’? We all have that same feeling when a message is being typed.
Reese’s Take 5
It’s a good, but not great ad. The final unspoken idiom is what pushes this commercial above “just ok.”
Amazon Echo
A smart but uninspired commercial, that changes with the Nixon conclusion.
Proctor & Gamble
A galaxy’s worth of star power that wasn’t used to its full potential. But, P&G has a lot of brands to squeeze into 60 seconds.
Michelob Ultra
This just… isn’t a good ad. Sorry.
